The Lega has a multitude of types of figurines, statuettes, and masks related to the Bwami initiation that governs the social and moral order in their traditional society. Among these objects, the Lega Kalimbangoma, small figures in bone or other exotic materials representing sometimes humans sometimes animals. The Lega Kalimbangoma figures were owned by a high-ranking Bwami, typically a Lutumbo lwa Kindo or Yananio.
